Call for Universities 2026

Overview

The official 2026 Call will be formally published on 1 April 2026.
The submission window will remain open for a period of one month, closing on 30 April 2026 (23:59 CET).

The European University Festival invites universities across Europe to submit high-impact projects dedicated to climate change and global challenges.

The Call represents the operational entry point to the European Platform for Climate Innovation.

Selected projects will be evaluated by an independent Scientific Committee and presented during the Festival edition to be held in Turin from 21 to 24 May 2026.

Areas of Submission

Projects must fall within one of the following thematic areas:

• Science & Marine Impact
• Art & Cultural Innovation
• Sustainable Gastronomy
• Sport & Sustainability

Interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged.

Selection Process

All submitted projects will undergo a structured multi-stage evaluation process.

Phase 1 – Eligibility Screening
Verification of formal compliance and thematic alignment.

Phase 2 – Full Scientific Evaluation
Up to 100 projects may be admitted to full evaluation in order to ensure quality, depth and operational feasibility.

 

Phase 3 – Final Selection
25 projects will be invited as finalists to Turin.
16 projects will receive direct financial support through the European University Climate Action Fund.

Evaluation will be based on defined criteria, including:

• Scientific rigor
• Feasibility
• Scalability
• Measurable impact
• Institutional relevance

Funding Mechanism

Winning projects will receive financial support through:

• The European University Climate Action Fund
• Revenues generated by the Global Concert for Climate Action
• Strategic partnerships and institutional contributions

Additional strategic awards may be established in collaboration with leading international organizations.

 

Institutional Framework

The Call operates within the governance and transparency framework of the European University Festival.

All evaluation and funding decisions follow documented procedures in alignment with European non-profit governance standards.

The Call for Universities is designed to ensure scientific merit, transparency and operational feasibility within a structured European platform.
